Flower Care: Cut Flowers
The designers at Janet Makrancy’s understand the joy a cut flower bouquet brings to your space and arrange with your happiness in mind. Keeping your flowers looking their best extends the joy they bring. By following these simple steps, you can keep your cut flowers full and beautiful longer.
Freshen
Your flowers will thank you for refreshing the water each day. Use room temperature water, and add cut flower food if available. Be sure to read and follow the directions on your flower food packet. If your aim is to encourage blooms to open, use warmer water. Remove expired blooms as they wilt.
Additionally, if your bouquet allows it, snipping the bottom of the stems every third day or so will improve the life and quality of your blooms. Be sure to cut at a 45 degree angle and use a clean shear.
Location
Cut flowers stay freshest in a cool place, out of the direct light of the sun. Keep them in modestly lit places and away from areas where temperatures tend to be higher, like the kitchen or room with an abundance of windows.
